Her unique approach to professional development shows teachers how to become master teachers who help every child meet or exceed rigorous learning standards. Her work with administrators helps them effectively train and support teachers and create highly rigorous school programs that ensure equitable access and opportunity for all students. She also works with school systems and non-profits to improve teacher effectiveness and remove institutional barriers to equity, access, opportunity and rigor for all students.

Patrick Briggs currently serves as the AVID Texas State Assistant Director. He comes to this position after 11 years as an administrator in Cypress-Fairbank ISD. He received his Bachelor of Science in Biology and his Master of Education in Educational Administration from Prairie View A & M University. Patrick’s current research is on African American male achievement. He serves on the Dream Team of AVID’s African American Male Initiative, which is in its second year of working with predominantly African American high schools to decrease the achievement gap for all populations of students. This work led to the newly created and highly successful Culturally Relevant Teaching course that is offered at AVID’s Summer Institutes. Patrick’s passion lies in helping all learners achieve at high levels, so all students are college-ready upon completion of high school. He believes all students deserve a high quality education that will enable them to make choices in life that will lead to success in any field of their choosing. His love is working with teachers – the most valuable resource in a school - to equip them with the tools and skills to help all students obtain success in school and life.
